The Angiris Council is highest governing order in the High Heavens. It’s five seats are given to the most powerful amongst the Seraphim who then become the embodiment of their beliefs. These five Archangels lead the heavenly host in their eternal conflict with the burning hells.
Tyrael, the Archangel of Justice.
He was the saviour of mankind, born from the Crystal Arch he was a rigid, unrelenting force of order. After the discovery of sanctuary, the council decided that it had to be destroyed. As decided Tyrael commanded the heavenly host on an assault that would destroy sanctuary. The battle raged throughout the world until Tyrael witnessed Uldyssian’s sacrifice and saw the nature of mankind at it’s best. Inspired by such selflessness he sought out the council to undo the the decision that would have destroyed sanctuary and mankind.
Auriel, the Archangel of Hope.
She is the embodiment of Hope, her nature inspires even the most cynical to find their faith in the fact that good still exist. As the heart of the council she functions as the mediator for the other Archangels. There unilateral nature is the cause of many conflicts. She was the only one to vote in favor of mankind.
Malthael, the Archangel of Wisdom.
he is the voice of reason, caretaker of reality. The words he speaks are the truth and none of the Seraphim will dispute his words. After The heart of reality vanished from the pandemonium fortress, stolen by Inarius and his followers, the once calm and reserved Malthael becomes obsessed with it’s disappearance. Taking him down a darker path.
Imperius, the Archangel of Valor.
the strongest of the Archangels, he speaks the words of war and his words are deadly to the denizens of the burning hells. His commanding presence can be a burden on the council, as are his conflicts with Tyrael. His valor is undeniable as the millions of demons he has crushed will agree but leaves him vulnerable to pride, one of the seven deadly sins and the only one that cannot be defeated.
Itherael, the Archangel of Fate.
Ithereal governs Fate, the possibilities of the future. The strands of time weave through his hands, he sees all of them and what each of their outcomes will be. Which of them will become true eludes him but his advice is still very valuable. In his foreseeing he can only see Angels and Demons. Sanctuary was created after the Worldstone was stolen and thus mankind escapes his sight.
